Expand your experience during the 2023 AAD Innovation Academy

Tampa has so much to offer.

We are all looking forward to Tampa for AAD’s Innovation Academy 2023! With its splendid, scenic Gulf Coast locale, Tampa is the ideal location for attendees to learn and live large during the four-day summer meeting.

Tampa has everything

There’s plenty to do while you’re here for Innovation Academy. Whether you’re looking for something for the entire family or great restaurants to dine at with colleagues, Tampa has it. If your visit is doubling as a family vacation, consider stops at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, The Florida Aquarium, The Glazer Children’s Museum, or ZooTampa at Lowry Park.

If the outdoor life is your passion, don’t forget your sunscreen, because there are plenty of biking trails, fishing spots, boating excursions, stand-up paddleboarding, golf courses, and nearby beaches competing for your attention. Also, Tampa has many great parks to sit and soak in the fresh air, including the Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park, and the Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park.

“Whether it’s fine dining in Ybor City at the renowned Columbia Restaurant, shopping in Hyde Park in the heart of the historic district, strolling the hub for art at the Tampa Bay Riverwalk connecting culture and entertainment on your way to the Tampa Aquarium, or taking the kids to theme park greatness at Busch Gardens, Tampa has something for everyone! Add in the AAD, and you’ve got a recipe for an unforgettable summer of adventure, collegiality, and education!” said AAD President Terrence A. Cronin Jr., MD, FAAD (who married his wife in Tampa).

More Tampa highlights

Looking for indoor activities to wrap around your Innovation Academy attendance? Consider visiting the Tampa Museum of Art or the Tampa Bay History Center.

Tampa’s vibrant entertainment scene boasts a wide array of after-the-learning fun, including theater, restaurants, and bars. Whether you’re looking for dining hotspots or a quiet cocktail, VisitTampaBay has a long list of recommendations — and so does Tampa dermatologist Neil Alan Fenski, MD, FAAD.

“I hope you will come and experience what’s happening at America’s next great city,” said Dr. Fenski. “You must experience the Tampa Riverwalk. You can enter the Riverwalk right at the Convention Center and stroll for several miles along the Hillsborough river meandering through downtown Tampa. Alternatively, jump on one of the many Pirate Water Taxis also located at the Convention Center, and slowly cruise the serene river. There are many stops along the way including Water Works Park, the renowned Ulele’s restaurant, and the historic Armature Works where repurposed space is filled with many chic shops and dining venues. Consider riding to the very end and experience casual indoor/outdoor dining at the legendary Rick’s on the River, a genuine taste of old Florida. Jump on and off with a daily pass. Consider riding at night and enjoy the lighted bridges and buildings. It’s an exhilarating experience. Whether walking, riding, or a combination of both, I assure you the experience will be unforgettable!”

Be sure to check out all there is to experience while you’re in Tampa for AAD’s 2023 Innovation Academy.

And don’t forget to post your experience to social media with the hashtag #AADinnovation2023.
