Discover adventure at every altitude
The Mile High City is a beacon for breathtaking views, outdoor thrills, and vibrant culture.

While in Denver for the 2026 AAD Annual Meeting, March 27-31, discover all the city has to offer in terms of recreation, restaurants, and relaxation.
But, before you go, remember that Denver sits at an elevation of 5,280 feet, exactly one mile above sea level — hence its nickname the Mile High City. Though it may not seem like much, it’s important to stay hydrated to help your body adjust to the thinner, dryer air. Other travel tips include moderating alcohol intake, dressing in layers for the fluctuating daily temps, and — as all dermatologists know — using sun protection.
The Annual Meeting will take place at the Colorado Convention Center in downtown Denver. Its central location makes it convenient to get around via several methods of transportation, including the 16th Street FreeRide (a hop-on, hop-off shuttle service that stretches from Civic Center to Union Station) as well as bikes, scooters, taxis, and rideshares.
Speaking of 16th Street, this iconic road has something for everyone, featuring upscale eateries, urban shopping, and kid-friendly activities. Local cultural attractions like the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver and the Denver Performing Arts Complex are right off the route.
Did you know Denver has more breweries than any other U.S. city? In addition, its fine-dining scene includes 30 Michelin-recognized restaurants. Non-foodies can also delight in the metropolis’ hometown haunts that can satisfy pretty much every savory, sweet, and international craving.
Numerous sports arenas are located not far from downtown, and many offer behind-the-scenes tours. Visit Coors Field, home of the Colorado Rockies; Empower Field at Mile High, home of the Denver Broncos; or Ball Arena, home to the Denver Nuggets, Colorado Avalanche, and Colorado Mammoth. A little further out is the famous Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre, which has a free museum and Performers’ Hall of Fame as well as hiking trails that weave in, around, and over the colorful landscape.
