S043 – Resident Jeopardy

It’s official — “The Bolognia Bros” team from KCU-GME/ADCS Orlando Dermatology are the new reigning Residency Jeopardy champs for 2023. The annual competition took place March 19, at the 2023 AAD Annual Meeting in New Orleans. The final standings were:

  • 1st place: The Bolognia Bros. Michael Foss, DO, from KCU-GME and Zackary Whitney, DO, from ADCS Orlando Dermatology
  • 2nd place: The Melanomads. Harry Liu, MD, and Touraj Khosravi, MD, from University of British Columbia
  • 3rd place: The Smoothened Operator. Michael Stephens, MD, from Harvard

While it was inevitable for a new champion to be crowned, the lively competition came down to the wire, according to session director Lida Zheng, MD, FAAD.

“The scores were so close!” Dr. Zheng said. “In the end, it came down to just one question in Final Jeopardy. With such a fierce competition this year, I want to recognize and applaud all of the teams who competed.”

“S043 – Resident Jeopardy” is based on the iconic, fast-paced game show Jeopardy! and features teams and individuals from U.S. residency programs who compete by answering questions and assessing core competencies on all things dermatology. Categories this year included a category on newly approved topical medications, “You Had Me at Aloe,” which tested on knowledge of botanicals, and “Before and After” where two diagnoses shared a common word.

This year’s moderators included Roger Ho, MD, FAAD (NYU), Kassandra Holzem, MD, FAAD (Medical College of Wisconsin), Danielle Tartar, MD, PhD, FAAD (University of California Davis), Michelle B. Tarbox, MD, FAAD, and Kiran Motaparthi, MD, FAAD (University of Florida).

Congrats to all on another rousing round of competition!
