The 2025 AAD Innovation Academy will feature two Sunrise Sessions dedicated to hidradenitis suppurativa (HS). One will focus on pinpointing HS within populations and the other will review new and upcoming therapies for patients with HS.

Alexandra Charrow, MD, FAADSaturday morning’s session, SUN09 – Innovative and Advanced Management of Biologics and Small Molecule Inhibitors in Hidradenitis Suppurativa and Beyond, will address therapeutic challenges of advanced HS, including novel methods beyond adalimumab. Session director Alexandra Charrow, MD, FAAD, referenced two recent FDA-approved drugs — secukinumab and bimekizumab — as well as the increased use and efficacy of combination biologics, lesion-directed therapies, and off-label treatments.

Dr. Charrow is assistant professor of dermatology at Harvard Medical School and director of the Hidradenitis Suppurativa and Neutrophilic Dermatoses Clinic. She said attendees can expect to learn the what, when, where, why, and how of managing HS with innovative, personalized solutions.

Steven Daveluy, MD, FAADSunday morning’s session, SUN15 – Phenotyping Hidradenitis Suppurativa (HS): Findings of a Collaborative Artificial Intelligence (AI) Initiative, will examine the role of AI in identifying HS. Session director Steven Daveluy, MD, FAAD, will describe a groundbreaking phenotyping tool that dermatologists can leverage to improve HS diagnosis, intervention, and education. Dr. Daveluy is professor and program director at Wayne State Dermatology in Michigan.
