Prurigo Nodularis and Atopic Dermatitis: Distinct Diseases with Shared and Unique Roles for Type 2 Inflammation

Presented by Sanofi and Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Inc.

JOIN US FOR A SYMPOSIUM ON PRURIGO NODULARIS
AND ATOPIC DERMATITIS

Mark your calendars for the “Prurigo Nodularis and Atopic Dermatitis: Distinct Diseases With Shared and Unique Roles for Type 2 Inflammation” symposium to learn about the signs, symptoms, high disease burden, and pathomechanisms of these two chronic, pruritic diseases. While both conditions are distinct and have unique pathogenic features, they also share some common disease mechanisms, including clinically relevant type 2 inflammatory drivers.

In this presentation, dermatologists Sarina Elmariah, MD, PhD, MPH, Brian Kim, MD, MTR, and Shawn Kwatra, MD,  will review distinguishing characteristics of prurigo nodularis and atopic dermatitis, including alterations to skin tissue, neuroimmune axis dysregulation, and how type 2 inflammation may result in the marked skin signs and symptoms that define each disease. They will also describe how type 2 inflammation contributes to itch processes and skin manifestations in both conditions. In addition to explaining the cutting edge understanding of the science behind prurigo nodularis and atopic dermatitis, they will share clinical insights into the way pathology impacts the patient experience.

Periodically throughout the symposium, you will hear the speakers review critical clinical topics during designated panel discussions and have the opportunity to ask questions of the experts at the conclusion of the program.

At the end of the symposium, you will be able to:

  • Recognize the disease burdens and current unmet needs in prurigo nodularis and atopic dermatitis
  • Describe how atopic dermatitis and prurigo nodularis are distinct diseases and how some patients may experience both
  • Discuss how alterations to skin tissue, neuroimmune axis dysregulation, and type 2 inflammation define both conditions

This program is independent and is not part of the official AAD Annual Meeting, as planned by its
Scientific Assembly Committee. This program does not qualify for continuing medical education (CME) credit.
