This dinner presentation delves into two separate topics related to kinases. The first talk focuses on the role of the TYK2/JAK family of kinases in transducing immune-specific signals, including the key IL-23/IL-17 inflammatory axis as well as the role of certain members of this family in also transducing signals essential for broad systemic functions. The second talk switches gears and highlights key structural features of kinases as an enzyme class, and investigates the connection of conserved and unique structural characteristics to different approaches to inhibition, and the potential functional effects of these approaches.
