Starting Emollient Use in the First Days After Birth in Infants at Risk for Atopic Dermatitis: What Does the Latest Research Tell Us?
Saturday, March 18
This session offers a unique opportunity to engage in a dialogue with experts around the potential long-term benefits of protecting the skin barrier from birth. Professor Alan Irvine of Trinity College, Dublin, and colleagues recently published the results of a randomized controlled clinical trial, the STOP-AD Trial, demonstrating that early initiation of daily specialized emollient use for two months after birth reduces the incidence of AD in the first year of life in high-risk infants. In this session, Prof. Irvine will share results of the STOP-AD Trial and will be joined by Dr. Lawrence Eichenfield and Dr. Amy Paller in a conversation with the audience about key takeaways from the study and possible future implications for pediatric AD.
