Jump into the tank!
New contenders take to the stage.

D001 – Derm Tank
4-5:50 p.m. | Friday, Aug. 2
Ballroom 6A
Some of dermatology’s best and brightest ideas will again be put to the test and on display at this year’s annual D001 – Derm Tank competition. The lively and friendly match-up will decide which ideas go on to win prize money that will launch that idea into commercial development.
Three contenders will make their final pitch during the session. They made it to the final round after proving to a panel of esteemed judges that their dermatology-related device, technique, instrument, or product had the potential to go the distance. Their presentations will continue to be scored for innovation and commercial viability. The highest-rated presenter will receive a “seed” money honorarium. It’s a win that last year’s winner Maryam Safaee, MD, FAAD, said propelled her innovation into another level. Dr. Safaee is a dermatologist with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and creator of ManeRx, a dry shampoo for dandruff.
This year’s three finalists and their presentations include:
- Justin Marson, MD, “New Dimensions in Dermatology: Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) as a Tool to Democratize Three-Dimensional Imaging.”
- Kamryn Abraskin, MM, “EpiDetect”
- Eran Gwillim, MD, “Jerry — the Evidence-Based AI-Powered Platform.”
Five dermatologists will share in directing the session. They include Daniel M. Siegel, MD, MS, FAAD, Brett M. Coldiron, MD, FAAD, Mark D. Kaufmann, MD, FAAD, Ivy Lee, MD, FAAD, and Cory Simpson, MD, PhD, FAAD. Last year’s winner, Maryam Safaee, MD, FAAD, will also speak during the competition.
Derm Tank is sure to spark imagination, provide entertainment, and foster lively discourse!
The session is not certified for AMA PRA Category 1 CME Credit.
