SUN03 – Pediatric Dermatology in Diverse Populations and Healthcare Settings
Start the morning on Friday, Aug. 2, with a look at managing a range of dermatology conditions in a diverse population of children. Factors such as race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, and gender diversity can affect care in pediatric dermatology. Panelists will engage in a case-based discussion of the diagnosis, treatment, and management of common pediatric skin diseases, including vitiligo, acne, hidradenitis suppurativa, and psoriasis. Additional discussion will focus on treatment considerations in resource-limited and community health settings. Anna Cristina Garza-Mayers, MD, PhD, FAAD, will direct the session. Speakers include Markus Boos, MD, PhD, FAAD, and George K. Hightower, MD, FAAD.
P008 – What’s Hot in Pediatric Dermatology?
Emerging trends and advances in inflammatory and infectious skin conditions affecting children are the focus of this session. Panelists will offer updated diagnostic and treatment strategies, including the use of systemic therapies, and discuss the differences between children and adults with the same condition. Specifically, speakers will focus on the evaluation and management of atopic dermatitis and alopecia areata as well as the impact of climate change on pediatric skin disease. Julie V. Schaffer, MD, FAAD, will direct the session. Speakers include Esteban Fernandez Faith, MD, FAAD, and Michele Ramien, MD, FAAD.
P016 – Showdowns in Pediatric Dermatology: Current Controversies From the Pediatric Dermatology Research Alliance
Experts from the Pediatric Dermatology Research Alliance (PeDRA) will shine a light on current controversies and novel treatment approaches in pediatric dermatology. Hear what the experts have to say about three hot-off-the-press topics, including systemic JAKi as a first-line therapy for children with vitiligo, TNFa inhibitors, cyclopsorine, prednisone, or IVIG treatment for children with SJS/TEN, and novel versus traditional topicals for the treatment of atopic dermatitis. JiaDe Yu, MD, FAAD, will direct the session. Speakers include Ammar M. Ahmed, MD, FAAD, Markus Boos, MD, PhD, FAAD, Anna Cristina Garza-Mayers, MD, PhD, FAAD, Thy Nhat Huynh, MD, FAAD, and Michele Ramien, MD, FAAD.
